So I thought I&#8217;d dust off an old piece and update it, rather than sweat over an original newsletter! It&#8217;s as valid as ever and I have added crucial stuff from very recent science…</p><p><strong>We are, as they say, &#8220;none of us getting any younger&#8221;. I look in the mirror some days and thank my lucky stars I know how to keep it going to the max (I&#8217;m 77 next birthday!) We Boomers want to go on partying until our last day on earth, right?</strong></p><p>To do that best, you need to create for yourself some kind of self-determined anti-aging plan. It’s just like any other goal in life: decide what you want, work out the steps to get it and then do those steps.</p><p>The one dumb thing you shouldn&#8217;t do is DO NOTHING. That won&#8217;t bring any rewards, just crumbly old age.</p><p>Here are a few thoughts from me, to help you do just that (not in any particular order of priority). You can change, extend or adapt this in any way you wish.</p><p>1. <strong>Create and Maintain a Healthy Mental Environment</strong></p><p>Develop friends, clubs, family ties and hobbies. Be with people you like, doing stuff you like. It’s crucial. You also need to create yourself some nourishing goals. It’s clear that people with a worthwhile purpose that carries them into the future will go on creating that future, as long as the inspiration lasts!</p><p>2. <strong>Diet:</strong> Track down your personal stressor foods and get off them. I can’t stress enough that this is the number #1 anti-aging factor in the Universe! That also means removing all manufactured foods from your diet and eat only whole foods. Reduce your carbohydrate intake to 100 gr. per day, maximum (2 slices of bread, 3 small potatoes).</p><p>On no account eat refined carbohydrates, which means no sodas, ice cream, cookies, cakes, candy, etc. Sugar is one of the WORST aging chemicals known to Man.</p><p>3. <strong>Make up your mind to do three 40-minute brisk walks every week.</strong> Try to make one of them last over an hour. You need to get out of breath and sweat by the finish. This is not time wasted; you’ll get it back in useful years, later in your life. That’s a promise.</p><p>4. <strong>Develop and strengthen your mind.</strong> Nothing gives more certainty of a healthy future than being able to project it in your thoughts. If you stay active and purposeful, with things to look forward to that enjoy, you WILL live beyond average. Read books, do crosswords, and learn a language.</p><p>No mind-dumbing activities like watching TV.</p><p>5. <strong>Do calming and relaxing exercizes.</strong> You can try yoga, tai ch&#8217;i or meditation.  Best of all is Multi-Media Sensory Stimulation (MMSS), using binaural beats and photic driving for brain entrainment, using a device called the Braintap. If you can, work in conjunction with a knowledgeable anti-aging doctor.</p><p id="link01">7. <strong>Women, get a bone density screening. It makes a good baseline.</strong> The number one factor which determines whether you will get osteoporosis in your later years is where you started out. If your bones are thin at age 40, they will be really thin at age 80. Be sure to take magnesium, at least 350 mg daily. D3 at 5,000 IU daily and you MUST include K2, for safety sake. Try this.</p><p>8. <strong>Work yourself out a supplements</strong> program and be sure to include at least the following:</p><ol><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ol><li aria-level="1">Omega-3s 2 – 3 gr daily</li><li aria-level="1">CoenzymeQ10 200 mg daily</li><li aria-level="1">Selenium 100 mcg daily</li><li aria-level="1">Acetyl-L-carnitine 500 mg daily</li><li aria-level="1">Alpha-lipoic acid 200 mg daily</li><li aria-level="1">Vitamin C 5 &#8211; 10 gr daily (try Dr. Keith&#8217;s Own Super-C)</li><li aria-level="1">Vitamin D 2,000 mg daily.</li></ol></li></ol><p>A super-quality multi, <b><a href="https://drkeithsown.myshopify.com/pages/telovite" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://drkeithsown.myshopify.com/pages/telovite">such as my own Telovite</a></b>, will help you get to these figures.</p><p>9. <strong>Top yourself up with iodine and repeat this from time to time.</strong> Aim for about 5 &#8211; 10 mg a month.</p><p>10. <strong>Get Yourself a Far Infra-Red Sauna if you can.</strong> This is a great sweat detoxer, to keep your tissues free of accumulations of unwanted chemicals. If you can’t afford one or can’t find room for it at home, seek out a club or society that has one and use it at least once a week.</p><p>11. <strong><a href="https://drkeithsown.myshopify.com/pages/nmn500" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://drkeithsown.myshopify.com/pages/nmn500">Take NMN if you have a mind</a>.</strong> That&#8217;s an important precursor to NAD, which is the most important anti-aging molecule found so far. It&#8217;s light years ahead of resveratrol!</p><p>12. <strong>Even better do a &#8220;zombie cell detox&#8221;.</strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">That&#8217;s the proper scientific term by the way. It means clean out the old and senescent cells in your body. And YES, it can be done simply and easily. It requires fisetin and some adjuvant, so that it&#8217;s more bioavailable. You&#8217;ll need to take lots of omega-3s, of course. Wear what you have learned with grace and beauty and people will love you for it.</p><p>Insist that people respect ancestors. We will all be ancestors someday.</p><p>16. <strong>Finally, <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/the-language-of-love/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">find love</a>, even if it’s a non-sexual relationship.</strong> Love keeps us all alive because it’s what it means to BE alive! Try to avoid the squabbles which break up relationships because you will need each other in later life. Single and divorced people don’t live as long as couples. I can’t insist you have regular sex, even though it’s very good for you. But if you are alone, or your partner is not up for fun and excitement, you can masturbate regularly, at least 2 -3 times a week, and don’t be ashamed.</p><p>In any event, watch and enjoy the movie Our Souls At Night, in which Jane Fonda and Robert Redford appear as elderly neighbors who agree to start sleeping together, just as friends, rather than feel lonely at night. There is no suggestion they have sex together (but the movie doesn&#8217;t say it DIDN&#8217;T happen either!)</p><p>Finally, stay current. This field is changing very swiftly. Try to keep connected with me, since you know I won’t be giving you the hype and baloney from magazines or TV. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s not often a mix in my newsletters with my products, but today I am going to do just that. There a vast amount of learning here, especially for us Boomers and it&#8217;s time for an update!</p>
<p>Time was (about 10 years ago) when I had the #1 slot on Google for <em>Puereria mirifica</em>. Those days are gone, not because I am no longer one of the world&#8217;s leading experts on Pueraria, but because crafty little snots who know how to push themselves to the top of Google, even though they know ZERO medicine, call the shots.</p>
<p><em>Pueraria mirifica</em>, is a herbal remedy from Thailand. In fact I jokingly call is HRT (Herbal Remedy From Thailand, get it?)</p>
<p><a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/pueraria-mirifica-fountain-of-youth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pueraria mirifica</a> (also related to <em>Kwao Krua</em> and <em>Butea Superba</em>), is a plant found only in Thailand and parts of Burma; 99% is grown in Thailand. Don&#8217;t let Chinese growers or online pushers of breast-enlargement creams kid you otherwise!</p>
<p>The region where this plant is grown is remarkable for its low rate of breast cancer and impressive longevity, which alerted scientists to something good going on. The lucky women get to use this local plant and the benefits are enormous and the science is building all the time.</p>
<p>Thai menopausal women, have been using Pueraria Mirifica for 700 years.</p>
<p>Men should use it too, especially as they age, since men are increasingly exposed to old-age estrogens (“male estrogen”).</p>
<p>The active ingredients seem to be <em>miroestrol</em> and <em>deoxymiroestrol</em>. These have been shown to be 3,000 more potent as estrogens than soy isoflavones, which led to my friend Dr. Garry Gordon MD, wisecracking a few years ago, that Pueraria mirifica “Makes Black Cohosh and Red Clover look like placebos”! (Garry was never one for understatement!)</p>
<p>Mirifica means “miracle” and it does seem as if we have a miracle herb on our hands. It counters all the negative effects of estrogen—a big problem in today&#8217;s world.</p>
<p>There is no increase in estrogen levels ever found, yet it reverses atrophic vaginitis and in fact, Dr. Christiane Northrup has reported that vaginal tissues become years younger and painful intercourse disappears.</p>
<p><strong>The Problem</strong></p>
<p>What Problem? Well, it is an estrogen mimic and ought to make estrogen dominance worse. But the fact it is doesn’t. It works by attaching to estrogen receptors, so that real estrogen is rendered ineffective, but it does so without stimulating the receptors in a dangerous way.</p>
<p>This is sometimes called estrogen inhibition.</p>
<p>It actually works by the same mechanism as the drug Tamoxifen, to reduce risk of breast cancer cells proliferating. There is much more to research on this incredible story, which it appears should be in the diet of every women from adolescence on, so that we bring breast cancer rates down to those in Northern Thailand, which is proven to be the lowest in the world.</p>
<p><strong>Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs)</strong></p>
<p>Pueraria in one of a group of emergent compounds, which includes the drug Tamoxifen, called selective estrogen receptor modulators or SERMs.</p>
<p>SERMs are called “selective” because they bind to particular estrogen receptors. SERMs do not prevent the production of estrogen, but they help to slow or stop the growth of estrogen-sensitive cancer cells by starving them of a full dose of natural estrogen.</p>
<p>There are other beneficial side effects, such as lowering cholesterol and protecting bone health for post-menopausal women, keeping the skeleton and joints strong and preventing breaks and fractures.</p>
<p>The latest remarkable discovery is that SERMs can protect your telomeres and that is a number one result for anti-aging (more of that in a moment).</p>
<p><strong>Men Too!</strong></p>
<p>Men can benefit too. We know that male estrogen increases through time, while testosterone falls, due to aging, body fat, hormonal replacement, pesticides, nutritional deficiencies, prescription medications and excessive alcohol intake. It’s equivalent to estrogen dominance.</p>
<p>In fact, studies have shown that the estrogen levels of the average 54-year-old man is higher than those of the average 59-year-old women! The end result is that these high levels of estrogen can cause reduced levels of testosterone, fatigue, loss of muscle tone, increased body fat, loss of libido and sexual function, an enlarged prostate and man-boobs.</p>
<p>So Pueraria has potential benefits for men too. It does not produce male breasts and may actually reduce this sign of aging plumpness.</p>
<p>But don’t suppose PM will take the place of good diet, exercise, cutting down on alcohol and losing plenty of weight.</p>
<p id="link01"><strong>Reversing Aging</strong></p>
<p>This is the bit we are interested in here.</p>
<p>Harvard scientists have taken prematurely aged mice and reversed the toll of time – increasing the size of their shrunken brains, restoring their diminished sense of smell, and turning their graying fur to a healthy sheen.</p>
<p>They did this by using the SERM properties.</p>
<p>The mice were at the very end of their lives and scientists expected no more than to slow or perhaps stabilize the aging process. Instead, they saw a dramatic reversal in the symptoms of aging!</p>

<p>The mice were specially developed to be telomere-deficient and aged fast. Just mid-way through the normal lifespan of a mouse, their organs had atrophied, their brains had shrunk, their coats turned gray and shabby and they had lost the ability to detect noxious odors.</p>
<p>But when scientists used a Tamoxifen-clone enzyme to switch the gene back on for a month, many hallmarks of aging seemed to reverse. The fertility of the mice increased, their sense of smell was restored, and their organs were rejuvenated. They literally went into aging reverse. See photo. The mouse on the left once looked like the old crock on the right! But now it looks YEARS younger (in human terms)</p>
<p>Well, the complex enzyme used for this trial is not available commercially and I could not recommend Tamoxifen as a good idea, even if you could get your doctor to prescribe it.</p>
<p>But you can take Pueraria and expect at least some of this beneficial aging effect. In several senses, <em>Pueraria mirifica</em> is a “fountain of youth”.</p>
<p><strong>Dosage and Sources</strong></p>
<p><em>Menstruating Women</em></p>
<p>Daily doses of 100 mg to 600 mgs/day, following our current recommended schedule of the 8th day from the start of the monthly menstrual cycle to the 21st day.</p>
<p><em>Post-Menopausal Women</em></p>
<p>Daily dosing, with no cycle.</p>
<p><em>Men</em></p>
<p>Daily dosing, around 100 mg, with no cycle.</p>

<p>Doctors and scientists have co-opted the term (jokingly) &#8220;zombie cells&#8221; to mean aged, senescent cells in our bodies that have outlived their usefulness: they are more or less dead. So, is that a problem?</p>
<p><b>Well, it turns out it&#8217;s a very big problem.</b> Senescent cells are aged cells that stop functioning properly and can cause damage to surrounding tissues. They lose the ability to grow or divide, and yet they refuse to die off, so they are a bit like “zombie cells.”</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worse: these senescent cells spew out compounds that incite harmful systemic inflammation, inflicting even more damage. Senescent cells are a major driver of age-related disease and dysfunction. They even accelerate the aging process itself. [Dodig S, Cepelak I, Pavic I. Hallmarks of senescence and aging. <p><b>The Dracula Experiment</b></p>
<p>This is shown by the fact that if we take the blood of young animals and inject it into senile animals (you can&#8217;t do this with humans; shades of Dracula!) the older creatures are rejuvenated and act much younger.</p>
<p>That means either there is a &#8220;youthful&#8221; factor being transferred. Or there is a &#8220;senile&#8221; factor that is being diluted. It turns out to be the second of the two. As we get older, we accumulate &#8220;agedness&#8221; factor in the blood. It turns out this senility factor is old and dying cells. If we can remove them, we feel rejuvenated and healthy again.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t need blood transfers. We get the same happy result when we do fasting and keto. Keto triggers the removal of aged &#8220;zombie&#8221; cells, eaten up by macrophages, a process called autophagy (literally: <i>eating self </i>in posh old Greek). This process is sometimes called &#8220;cellular housekeeping.&#8221;</p>
<p>As a result, we feel vibrant, energetic and healthier than before. We also, coincidentally, get a rush of stem cells too, ready to go to work restoring and repairing the body&#8217;s tissues.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why I highly recommend intermittent fasting and keto. BUT IS THERE AN EASIER WAY? Oh, you bet!</p>
<p>There are nutrient compounds called<i> senolytics</i> (posh Greek for age dissolvers). A number of these have been studied and some are really good at &#8220;zombie detoxing&#8221;, shall we call it!</p>
<p>Check Wikipedia and it says this: A senolytic<i> </i>is among a class of small molecules under basic research to determine if they can selectively induce death of senescent cells and improve health in humans. A goal of this research is to discover or develop agents to delay, prevent, alleviate, or reverse age-related diseases.</p>
<p>The first senolytic substances studied were Dasatinib, Quercetin, Fisetin and Navitoclax. Here I&#8217;m going to focus in on Fisetin. Why? Because I&#8217;m selling it, silly! Just read on…</p>
<p><b>Fisetin</b></p>
<p>Fisetin really is the finest thoroughbred horse in the senolytics stable, destroying dysfunctional senescent cells and extending lifespan by approximately 10% in animal studies.</p>
<p>It is a plant flavonol from the flavonoid group of polyphenols. These are a hot anti-oxidant group of compounds! Fisetin can be found in many fruits and vegetables, where it serves as a yellow/ochre coloring agent, such as in strawberries*, apples, persimmons, onions and cucumbers.</p>
<p>According to a study published in eBioMedicine, an arm of <i>The Lancet</i>: &#8220;Of 10 flavonoids tested, fisetin was definitely the most potent senolytic.&#8221;</p>
<p>Acute or intermittent treatment of old mice with fisetin reduced senescence markers in multiple tissues. Administration of fisetin to wild-type mice late in life reduced age-related pathology, and extended median and maximum lifespan. [eBioMedicine. Volume 36, P18-28, October 01, 2018]</p>

<p>There is a lot more to fisetin than just life extension. The article went on to comment &#8220;Late life intervention [with fisetin] was sufficient to yield a potent health benefit&#8221; in both humans and mice.</p>
<p><b>Anti-Inflammatory and Other Beneficial Effects</b></p>
<p>In line with its role as a flavonol, fisetin has powerful anti-oxidant and therefore anti-inflammatory effects. According to the book <i>Role of Flavonoids in Management of Inflammatory Disorders </i>(Editors: Ronald Watson, Victor Preedy. 2019), fisetin &#8220;powerfully&#8221; reduced markers of inflammation, which benefitted joints and other tissues.</p>
<p>Another book, <i>Regenerative Nephrology</i><i> </i>(2<sup>nd</sup> edition, 2021. Editor: Michael Goligorsky), showed that in aging mice (22–24 months), fisetin treatment decreased cellular aging in kidney, liver, fat, and spleen, and reduced levels of circulating senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors (don&#8217;t even ask!) The mice lived 10% longer. [Yousefzadeh MJ, Zhu Y, McGowan SJ, et al. Fisetin is a seno- therapeutic that extends health and lifespan. EBioMedicine. 2018 Oct;36:18-28].</p>
<p>Fisetin even has a role against cancer, according to a <i>Science Direct</i> review. It helped induce cellular apoptosis (programmed cell death), alone and in conjunction with a chemo-gent: cisplatin. <p>A 2014 study described various flavonoids, such as apigenin, baicalein, cyanidin, fisetin, galangin, hesperetin, luteolin, myricetin, naringenin, phloretin and quercetin, as quite potent inhibitors of DNA methyltransferase activity (that&#8217;s good—tumor cells typically exhibit aberrant DNA methylation patterns during malignant transformation)</p>

<p><b>Mimicking Caloric Restriction</b></p>
<p>Reducing food intake through a <b>calorie-restricted diet</b> has been shown to slow aging, extend lifespan, and improve resistance to disease.</p>
<p>Research has identified the cellular pathways that are affected by such a diet. Among other benefits, caloric restriction: And, of course, that helps with weight loss, glucose control and, ultimately, diabetes.</p>
<p>There are 3 main ways that fisetin can help with weight control…</p>
<ul>
<li>Reduces the activity of<b> mTOR </b>(mammalian target of rapamycin), a remarkable substance linked to aging, weight gain, and chronic disease.</li>
<li>Boosts the function of <b>sirtuins</b> (remember resveratrol and that story?)</li>
<li>It helps flip the &#8220;fat switch&#8221; to OFF, by increasing the activity of the enzyme <b>AMPK.</b></li>
</ul>
<p>Fisetin not only has the ability to extend lifespan in preclinical models, it may also reduce the risk for many of the most common chronic illnesses.</p>
<p>Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S. Most common forms of heart disease are due to inadequate flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients to the heart, which can lead to a <b>heart attack.</b></p>
<p>Over the last two years, studies have demonstrated that fisetin can <i>protect the heart</i> from injury. Even after <b>heart attack</b> models, heart cells fare better when <b>fisetin</b> is present.</p>
<p>In one recent study published in the journal <i>Nature</i>, rat heart cells starved for nutrients and oxygen were protected by fisetin, preventing cell death.</p>
<p>And in animal models of <b>heart attack</b>, the extent of heart damage was <i>reduced</i> when treated with fisetin, preserving better heart function.</p>

In fact, many spent a lifetime ignoring the advice of health experts. They didn’t avoid smoking or lose weight, yet most centenarians say they feel on average 20 years younger than their chronological age.</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Longest-surviving French woman, Jeanne Calment, for example, was a heavy smoker. And she enjoyed a drink; usually cheap red wine! Yet she lived to 123 years!</p>

<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Centenarians, it seems, age more slowly than the rest of the population. Sardinia, a region of Italy, has the most centenarians per capita – 6 centenarians for every 3,000 people – 10 times more than in the US where the ratio is 1 per 5,000.</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">But, the health statistics for 100+ year olds may surprise you. For example:</p>
<ul class="bard-text-block style-scope">
<li>37% were smokers for an average of 31 years</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">37% were overweight; 8% were obese</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">20% never exercised at all; 44% only moderately</li>
</ul>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Yet, these centenarians have lower rates of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Psychiatric illnesses, such as depression, are almost nonexistent.</p>
<h2 class="bard-text-block style-scope">So Why?</h2>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">According to research and interviews with centenarians themselves, the primary difference between them and the rest of us comes down to six key ingredients (no particular order)…</p>
<ul class="bard-text-block style-scope">
<li>Zest for life</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">Strong family and social ties</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">Optimism</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">Sense of humor</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">Eating real food</li>
<li class="bard-text-block style-scope">Hard work</li>
</ul>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Centenarians tend to be exceptionally good at expressing love, nurturing others, working hard, being involved in their communities, and flat-out refusing to stress about the small stuff—or most anything for that matter!</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Happiness, say centenarians, is the real key to a long life, and research backs them up. In fact, happy people tend to live about 35 percent longer. Makes sense; who would want to live 100 years if your life was lousy?</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Positive thoughts and attitudes seem to somehow strengthen the immune system, boost positive emotions, and decrease pain and inflammation.</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Sadly, though, life expectancy worldwide is now on the decline. Modern conveniences and technologies have left us stressed-out, unhappy, unhealthy, chronically tired, and disconnected from each other.</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">Yuckkk!</p>
<p class="bard-text-block style-scope">They say that if you want to live to 100 and enjoy the happy, healthy lifestyle they had, you must be proactive every day and that managing stress is vital. Most importantly, they all agree that the keys to living to 100 are available to everyone, everywhere. And, as you can see, they’re not complicated.</p>

<p>I want to feel, I want to LOVE, I want to sing and dance, I want to speak and write like an angel, I want to hug plenty… all the days of my life.</p>
<p>Who is with me?</p>
<p>There’s enough science out there to live for 150 years or more. Ignore the loony scientists who say nobody can live that long. They just ignore everybody who is still around after 120 years or more. “These old goats are frauds,” they say, “Or maybe deluded. They just think they lived that long; their memories are bad and can’t be trusted.”</p>
<p>But, hey! Dr Li Ching-Yun (or Yuen) in China lived for over 260 years. Records exist showing he was born in 1677 and the Chinese government he was sent him official certificates at ages 150, 200, and 250, so there is a fair degree of certainty this was correct.</p>
<p>At the astonishing age of 250 he lectured medical students in Beijing on the art of living a long and healthy life. His obituary appeared in the <em>New York Times</em> May 8th 1933 and in <em>The Times</em> on May 6th. His age was given as 256 and reading about this case was supposedly what inspired James Hilton to write his Shangri-La classic <em>Lost Horizon</em>.</p>
<p>Dr. Li’s reported formula was “Keep a quiet heart; sit like a tortoise; sleep like a dog”. These accord well with modern anti-aging science, which says, avoid stress, avoid inflammatory over-exertion, and sleep at least 8 hours!</p>
<p>Zaro Agha is believed to be the oldest person in modern times. Zaro, a Turk who lived to 162 years, was credited by <em>Time Magazine</em> (March 17, 1930) as attaining the title of the world&#8217;s oldest man. He was born two years before the signing of the American Declaration of Independence, and lived until 1934.</p>
<p>In 1973 <em>National Geographic</em> (no lightweight magazine, you will agree) published an account of a woman called Khfaf Lasuria, who was calculated by visiting American MDs to be between 130 and 140 years old. At the age of 111 she had retired from her work (picking tea) and she was still travelling alone by bus visiting relatives. Her conversation was crisp and lucid, and her memory formidable. Khfaf drank a glass of vodka and smoked a packet of cigarettes every day.</p>

<p>So-called science keeps peddling Jeanne Calment (1875–1997) of France as the only valid case. She made it to 122, which is not that impressive. What is thrilling though is that Calment spent her life doing almost everything that doctors advise against if you want to live a long life! She smoked, she drank, she played with guns, she ate excessive amounts of sugar and red meat, and she never ate breakfast, save for a cup or two of coffee.</p>
<p>It poses the super-sweet question: WHAT DO DOCTORS REALLY KNOW? Nothing!</p>
<p>They tell you not to eat fat; you’ll never make it to this age, unless you eat plenty of fat! They tell you not to eat chocolate; Calment ate at least 2 lbs a week! They tell you not to smoke and alcohol is bad for you. Yet Calment and Khfaf Lasuria both smoked heavily and drank a LOT!</p>
<p>Thing is, these aging superstars were wrinkly prunes, yes, <em>but fit and highly active until the very end.</em></p>
<p>Here are men and women defying all scientific predictions by failing to follow orthodox medical advice! The best of civilized medicine in the world (supposedly) is letting its people turn into sad incompetent invalids from the sixth decade onwards.</p>
<p>And NO, it’s not genes. It amuses me always to report that America’s oldest man Walter Breuning lived to age 114. Yet his parents both died in their 50s! Forget genes. Healthy old age is about controlling environmental factors and that includes diet, of course.</p>
<p>In fact anti-aging doctors are united about one thing: we do not die of age, we die of diseases. These extreme old age cases did not finally run out of life! They contracted a terminal illness and were whisked away. Nine out of ten times bronchopneumonia is the reason. They made it past the dangers of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, only to succumb to an everyday infection, which because of their frailty, proved too severe.</p>
<p>But there is ONE THING you must not do, if you want to live beyond 100 and still enjoy life; YOU MUST NOT PUT ON EXCESS WEIGHT. Overweight is bad enough. Obesity is deadly.</p>
<p><strong>NOBODY WHO LIVES TO A GREAT AND HEALTHY OLD AGE IS OVERWEIGHT. None of them.</strong></p>
<p>So the recent launch of a physical (print) copy of my latest book on how to lose weight effectively is really just an extension of my anti-aging strategy. You might think oldsters are wrinkly and skinny because they are old? No, they make it to a grand old ager because they are skinny (the wrinkly bit has to do with poor collagen formation and loss of elasticity. Not inherently unhealthy. Just something that happens through time).</p>
<p>Look, statistics say that if you made it past forty, you’re well on your way to being a centenarian. If you pass sixty it’s better than 50/50 you’ll make it to 85. If you pass 85, you are on at 50/50 to make it to the century, whether you want to or not!</p>
<p>So it makes sense to do everything to ensure those later decades are kind to you: no senility, walking frame, dementia or incontinence for you!</p>
<p>But it starts with healthy eating. And we have that down pat, if you listen to the proper sources (NOT the US government experts, who have killed millions with their eat-carbs-low-fat dogma).</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In my book <strong><em><a href="http://www.on2url.com/app/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=96247&amp;AdID=884079" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How to Live Beyond 100 Years</a></em></strong>, I talk a lot about the myths surrounding the process and signs of aging.  You mustn’t fear the years!  There are many ways to embrace these later stages of being and make them the best of your life!</p>

<p>Most humans don’t fully evolve into their “final selves” until they pass 40.  It takes that long to gain our skills, hone our personalities, make plenty of mistakes (and then a few more for good measure), and basically charge through what is always referred to as “the first half” with a few stumbles.</p>
<p>By considering 0-40 the “first half,” that implies that 41-80 are the “second half.”  That 80 is assumed to be the “end” of our personal game of life.</p>
<p>Ha!  At 73 myself, I refuse to look at it that way…and you shouldn’t either!</p>
<p>If you’re over 50, you might be physically slower than you used to be (exceptional athletes of advanced age are remarkable exceptions).  Once you reach 60, there are probably some aches and pains you don’t remember having before.  Passing 70 may see the arrival of a few health issues and some random skips in your memory.  If you’re over 80 (or approaching it), you may live with more than a little fear about what happens next.</p>
<p>It doesn’t have to be that way.</p>
<p>There is no reason that life must gradually decline, getting worse and worse, as if one is doing nothing more than waiting for death.  If you’re reading this, you’re still very much alive.  That means it’s critical to <u>strive for the next moment and the next</u>.</p>
<p>No matter your age or state of health, there is no need to “throw in the towel” because you think the game is already over.  No, absolutely not.</p>
<p>Each morning, I seize the day.</p>
<p>Every moment, every breath, every experience I have is an opportunity to take life by the horns and use each opportunity to move myself forward.  <strong>I’m still living</strong>, you see?  I’m not waiting to die as it seems so many of advanced age end up doing.</p>
<p>That’s one of the biggest (and most effective) ways to stop the signs of aging.</p>
<p>No matter your mobility, your health issues, your familial relationships, <u>you are still breathing</u>…and not one of those breaths should be wasted.</p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">By the time we start to understand the secrets of a good life, our looks have started to decay.  At the point when we should be at our wisest, most vibrant and sexiest, our energies are fading fast.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Kids don’t know what they have and while we watch them squandering it we can only sigh!</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">If we could link some of the wisdom we gain over the years to the seemingly inexhaustible energy of the younger generation that would be a formula for a life well lived.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The Boomer generation (I’m one of them) have decided we’re not going to take this lying down.  We want to live to 120, enjoy every minute, look great, work hard, play hard, have lots of sex, and dance on our last day!  In fact, we Boomers have started an anti-aging revolution.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">When I went through medical school (and still today in many quarters), medical scientists insisted aging was a process nobody could do anything about, believing life expectancy was fixed at birth.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">What baloney!</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">There are dozens of degenerative processes which take place in our bodies.  If left unchecked, they cause a <strong>progressive inability to function</strong>, slow clumsy movements, aches and pains, confused and irrational thinking, wrinkles and unpleasant looking skin, weakness and frailty, stooped posture, incontinence, and other humiliating conditions, which even the heartiest soul will find demeaning.</p>

<p>It doesn’t have to be this way.</p>
<p>There are around <strong>100,000 people in the United States</strong> alone who have reached 100 years of age.  The global number of centenarians is rising fast.</p>
<p>Despite <strong>serious conditions</strong> – like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune, and dementia – and our <strong>atrocious habits</strong> – poor diet, sedentary lifestyles, smoking, and screen addiction – the human organism has evolved substantially, very much without our help.</p>
<p>We’re already living longer on average and the likelihood that <u>you’ll live past 100</u> (and me, too!), is higher than it was even a century ago.</p>

<p>So!  You must prepare for becoming a being of 100 years and beyond!  You must do everything you can to preserve (or repair, in some cases) your body and slow (or reverse) the signs of aging.</p>
<p><strong><em>Think about it this way…</em></strong></p>
<p>If it’s possible for even one human to be healthy, mentally alert, and physically mobile at the age of 100 (and there are plenty) – that means it is possible for every single one of us!</p>
<p>I plan to prove this theory myself!</p>
<p>I go into great detail about tips and tricks to slow (even stop) the signs of aging easily, naturally, and effectively in my book.  However, here are 5 of the most critical areas that you need to address (today) in your life.</p>
<p>Remember, it doesn’t matter how old (or young) you are right now.  It’s never too early or late to make positive mental, physical, and emotional changes in your life.</p>
<h2>5 Hot Tips to Slow Signs of Aging</h2>
<ol>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Lower your stress (professional, romantic, physical, mental, etc)</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Improve your diet (I’ve written endlessly on this topic so get reading!)</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Sleep at least 8 hours per night (make it good, quality sleep)</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Get moving (even 15 minutes daily of low-impact exercise does help)</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Drop the garbage (smoking, excessive alcohol, processed food, and so forth)</li>
</ol>
<p>By following these simple tips, and you can’t get much simpler, you will improve your heart rate, gut health, brain function, mood, energy levels, and so much more!</p>
<p>Sometimes, the easiest solutions are overlooked for complex, convoluted ideas “of the moment.”  The common sense ways are best.  They cost you little to nothing, they give you almost immediate results, and you can gradually ramp up your focus on each tip to further slow signs of aging.</p>

<p>Here I am going to share 10 myths of aging. These are false beliefs, often held in place by screwball science (like the cholesterol myth).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #1</strong></h2>



<p><u>Aging is in your genes.</u>&nbsp;Piffle! American Walter Bruening lived to be 114 years old; yet his parents both died in their 50s! With an understanding of epigenetics, we know we can switch any gene on or off (rather easily, as a matter of fact.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #2</strong></h2>



<p><u>Thin is good; the thinner the better.</u>&nbsp;Not true. Underweight individuals do not live longest. In fact, surprisingly, those who are just slightly overweight (but not obese) do best. Of course obesity shortens your life, everyone knows that.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #3</strong></h2>



<p><u>It&#8217;s about telomeres.</u>&nbsp;You have so many and when they are used up, you get cancer and everything goes haywire. Not true again. You can grow telomeres. There are expensive products on the market which claim to lengthen telomeres. I do not recommend these. <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #4</strong></h2>



<p><u>Aging is caused by running down of the body.</u>&nbsp;It&#8217;s a wear and tear thing. Once damage is done, it&#8217;s irreversible. Wrong! You can repair and reverse aging to a considerable degree. I&#8217;ll tell you how in&nbsp;<strong><em><a href="http://www.on2url.com/app/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=96247&amp;AdID=888153" rel="no follow">How to Live Beyond 100 Years</a></em></strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #5</strong></h2>



<p><u>Exercise is good.</u>&nbsp;The more exercise the better. Work hard in the gym and do long, sweaty walks and you&#8217;ll live long. Surprisingly, this isn&#8217;t true. While being a couch potato is definitely a bad thing, you can do TOO MUCH exercise. Over use of your muscles causes oxidative damage and you can predict early death by damage to the thigh muscles, due to overuse.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #6</strong></h2>



<p><u>Low cholesterol is the way to go; the lower the better, the longer you&#8217;ll live.</u>&nbsp;This old chestnut has killed more people than just about anything except flu and malaria. We need cholesterol! Real science (not science paid for by Pfizer and AstraZeneca) makes it clear that people with the lowest cholesterol levels die younger than the rest of us.</p>



<p>Although this is counter to the propaganda, it shouldn&#8217;t surprise anyone because cholesterol is needed for most hormones, like testosterone, estrogen and cortisol. It also needed for &#8220;wiring&#8221; insulation in the brain. To blame raised cholesterol for heart damage is like saying the red oil warning light caused the damage to a neglected car engine.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #7</strong></h2>



<p><u>Taking statins is essential when you pass 50 years of age.</u>&nbsp;This blatant and outrageous hooey is perpetuated by supposed &#8220;experts&#8221; like Professor Sir Rory Collins. Well, guess what: he gets lots of money from pharmaceutical companies (not as bribes but as grants that enable him to plough his furrow and pay the mortgage). The real truth comes from another source altogether: Statins have never been documented to benefit any woman of any age with any condition. They have not been documented to help people who have not had a previous heart attack of any age or gender.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #8</strong></h2>



<p><u>hGH (human growth hormone) injections prolong life and are needed to beat aging.</u>&nbsp;Nonsense. This elaborate, demanding and very expensive treatment has not been shown to extend life by even one day. In fact the famous 1990 paper that justifies prescribing it by Daniel Rudman MD was only shown to get rid of wrinkles and increase muscle strength in men over 60 years. Not a bad thing in itself. But if you un-age properly, as I tell you to do, you won&#8217;t need costly hGH.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #9</strong></h2>



<p><u>Nobody can live to more than 120.</u>&nbsp;&nbsp;Those who claim to be older are faking it or confused and mistaken. This baloney has been going around for years. There are people out there who just don&#8217;t WANT people to live long, miserable and poop-faced, who insist that nobody CAN live longer than that and THEREFORE anyone who says they did is just wrong.</p>



<p>They are using this technique with Antisa Khvichava, who died recently. They want to argue over whether she reached 130 or not and imply she faked it.</p>



<p>I cite you a case in the book with government certificates every 50 years, who lived well past 250 years.</p>



<p>Moreover, in 1973 National Geographic Magazine featured an article by US doctor Alexander Leaf in which he and his team researched a woman called Khfaf Lasuria. Having studied the case were sure she was at least 130 years and sure she was not more than 140 years old.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Myths of Aging #10</strong></h2>



<p><u>Of course the biggest myth of all is that you can&#8217;t do anything about aging</u>&nbsp;. Medical &#8220;science&#8221; (sniff!) has been peddling that story for a hundred years or more. It&#8217;s simply not true.</p>



<p>Boomers like us know you can hold back the tide of time by having FUN; lots of it. Beauty stars, like Raquel Welch, Joan Collins and Dyan Cannon showed us in the 1970s just how beautifully women can age. Up till then, we sassy youngsters thought all women over 35 were &#8220;old&#8221;.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Perhaps nothing is as elusive (or damaging) as <strong>aging foods</strong>.  Everything you do affects how quickly (or slowly) your body declines at the cellular level and <u>food is at the top of the list</u>.</p>
<p>When you eat, a complicated series of chemical reactions takes place.  Foods are broken down and distributed where they’re needed.  Nutrients like fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals your body requires to function are immediately put to work.</p>
<p>These are the foods that truly feed your system and keep it running efficiently.</p>
<p>When you consume aging foods, the process is completely different.  This creates a chain reaction that involves your <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/body-stuff/toxic-burden/">body trying to flush toxins</a> it doesn’t need or want.</p>
<p>In many cases, your liver is forced to “quarantine” specific compounds it cannot use and may not be capable of flushing from your system.  The most common place for your body to store unwanted compounds is in fat cells.</p>
<p>Over time, these substances become evident in your skin and gradually make you sick.  These foods <u><a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/total-health/inflammation-problems/">promote inflammation in your cells</a></u>, the root cause for many (if not most) major diseases known to modern man.</p>
<p>To control the signs and effects of aging and keep your entire body running effectively into oldest age, you must remove aging foods from your diet entirely.</p>
<h2>Don’t Be Fooled by Labels</h2>
<p>Manufacturers have gotten pretty slick in how they present foods that accelerate aging and disease.  They slap labels on them like <em>organic</em>, <em>diet</em>, <em>healthy</em>, <em>natural</em>, <em>fat-free</em>, <em>sugar-free</em>, and more to confuse consumers into thinking they’re eating foods that are good for them.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, most of these declarations are either a slight bend of the truth while others are outright lies.  The food industry protects its bottom line above all else.  This is evidenced by the <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/blog/the-truth-about-genetically-modified-organisms-gmos/">thousands of chemicals</a> they’ve added to our food supply over the years (with the full approval of government institutions like the FDA).</p>
<p>Chemicals added to processed foods are done for one of three reasons.</p>
<ul>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">They make the product cheaper to produce than natural ingredients.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">They add back flavor (taking out natural fat or sugar) to make it “healthy.”</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">They extend overall shelf life (sometimes for years).</li>
</ul>
<p>That’s it.  They aren’t added because they’re good for you or because your body will benefit from them.  At the end of the day, they don’t even taste better!</p>
<p>Anyone who’s removed all chemical additives from their diet usually has a similar experience to ex-smokers.  Foods and beverages taste different, fuller, and more delicious.</p>
<p>They’re also surprised at how much <u>more satisfying natural foods</u> are because they aren’t pumping their bodies full of highly addicted compounds like high-fructose corn syrup.</p>

<h2>Age Is More Than a Number</h2>
<p>When you talk about age, most of us immediately consider our chronological years and how old we look on the outside.  What if you’re forty on the outside but sixty-five at the cellular level?</p>
<p>That’s what happens when you eat a lot of aging foods!</p>
<p>This isn’t far-fetched.  In the United States and other developed nations, the average diet is pumped full of high-fat (not the good kind), high-sugar (all refined and bleached), and high-grains (simple carbs), and countless chemical preservatives and flavorings.</p>
<p>What do you think your body does with all those toxins?</p>
<p>It can’t use them.  It only utilizes healthy fats for cellular membranes and brain tissue.  It can only process a certain amount of sugars and carbs before becoming overwhelmed.  It can’t even process the chemicals – those are considered foreign invaders and they often elicit an immune response to “fight” them.</p>
<p>Oxidation, glycation, and inflammation – the three aging processes – kick in when your body is has far too much of the wrong substances (and not enough of the good ones).</p>
<ol>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Oxidation </strong>is a natural process that takes place in your body. Roughly 2% of your cells become free radicals – cells missing a molecule and trying to find it from healthy cells.  That damages those cells (which then become free radicals).  As you can imagine, the process can get out of control quickly.  Eating natural foods high in nutritional antioxidants has been shown to “mop up” these free radicals to keep them from damaging other cells.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Glycation</strong> is caused by consuming too much sugar. These sugar molecules attach to your proteins, mutate them, and spread to other healthy tissue.  Glycation that isn’t stopped is what leads to obvious aging in your face due to a sharp decline in collagen production.  [Sugar is the enemy of collagen!]  Diabetics have a higher risk of facial aging because they’re no longer able to process sugar properly.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Inflammation</strong> is also a natural process that your body uses when you get sick or need to fight an infection. However, inflammation left unchecked can lead to countless issues like <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/body-stuff/what-causes-autoimmune-disease/">auto-immune disease</a> (a growing epidemic).  As I mentioned, inflammation is a core bio-marker for all the worst problems with human health such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s, mental illness, and so much more.  Keeping inflammation in check means ditching known aging foods and replacing them with healthier, natural options.</li>
</ol>
<h2>7 Scientifically Proven Aging Foods to Stop Eating Now!</h2>
<ol>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Refined sugar, flour, and wheat.</strong> This is probably the hardest one for most people to kick so I’m putting it first.  If your diet consists of a lot of pasta, pastry, cereal, or bread, chances are your body is already struggling with the three aging processes.  Carbs are a necessary part of your diet but the average person is eating far too much of them!  Try a detox for two weeks and you’ll be shocked at how your body feels.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Artificial sweeteners.</strong> While too much sugar is bad, natural varieties can be consumed in moderation.  Artificial sweeteners have no “healthy” level of consumption!  This is a debate that’s raged for decades.  Over and over, researchers prove how dangerous these things are only to have them continue to be used in all “diet” foods on the market, consumed by countless consumers.  They increase your cravings for sweets and raise your risk of diabetes and cancer.  Frequent users also commonly experience headaches and joint pain.  This is one aging food you don’t need or want in your diet!</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Hydrogenated oils.</strong> Most oils you find at your local market (vegetable, corn, canola, and margarine) are hydrogenated.  Hydrogenation is a high-heat stage of processing that kills all the natural enzymes it might have had and begins decomposition.  Powerful chemicals are added to stop the oil from rotting.  Multiple studies have connected the consumption of hydrogenated oils to cancer, extreme inflammation, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.  Most processed foods, snack foods, and fast foods use hydrogenated oils exclusively.  Much healthier options are olive oil, coconut oil, or oils that aren’t hydrogenated.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Excessive alcohol.</strong> There are benefits to alcoholic beverages (like red wine) in strict moderation.  That equates to no more than 2 glasses per day for men and 1 glass per day for women.  More than this and you end up with a pro-inflammatory environment that raises your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, liver failure, dehydration, and common signs of aging such as puffiness, redness, and wrinkles.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;">Let me clarify that your body needs salt to survive.  Unfortunately, most of the processed foods you find in your local market have unbelievable amounts of salt – especially frozen meals (yes, even the “healthy” ones).  Why?  It’s a cheap preservative.  Too much salt in your diet has a dehydrating effect on your cells.  Excess salt leads to fatigue, kidney disease, high blood pressure.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><strong>Sodas, energy drinks, and bottled beverages.</strong> Soda is bad for every cell in your body and (shockingly) energy drinks are even worse.  Most bottled drinks tend to have an enormous sugar and chemical content.  Those that don’t probably use <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/body-stuff/why-artificial-sweeteners-could-raise-your-blood-sugar/">artificial sweeteners</a>.  Sodas and energy drinks function like acid on your teeth enamel.  This makes your mouth look far older and is a physical representation of what those drinks are doing to cells you can’t see!</li>
<li><strong>Trans fats.</strong> These used to be found in almost everything but thankfully is getting less common.  It’s still important to keep an eye out if you’re a fan of snack foods like chips, bagged popcorn, canned nuts, fried foods, and so on.  The chemical reaction that takes place in your body when you consume trans fats is terrifying.  They’ve been shown to inhibit immune response and damage cell respiration.  They’re considered one of the most inflammatory foods and increase your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.</li>
</ol>
<p>Everyone ages.  By eating the right food combinations (and avoiding harmful aging foods) you can <u>age a bit more gracefully</u>.  You’ll certainly see a difference in your outer appearance but the biggest positive changes are inside, <u>at the cellular level</u>, and that’s critical!</p>
