<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I don’t know this woman; apparently she’s a popular singer. I first saw her promoting a weight loss product supposedly developed by Elon Musk. There are several pictures of her with the celebrity entrepreneur. It’s all down to Keto Gummies, she claims.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the same page Dr. Oz, no less, gets involved.¹</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> He’s promoting a product called Keto Genesis (which is actually an age-old process, not a product): “Keto Genesis contain[s] natural ingredients that accelerate metabolic processes by 5 to 7 times. This allows the body to quickly consume all accumulated fat reserves and prevents the formation of new ones. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“At the U.S. Institute of Dietetics and Nutrition Research, a study was conducted on the properties of the &#8220;Keto Genesis&#8221; complex. In a 30-day study on a group of 17 volunteers with overweight of more than 22 lbs, the following results were obtained:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">1. A drastic weight loss ranging from 15.4 lbs to 68 lbs was recorded across the entire group of subjects</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">2.An improvement in well-being and tone was observed in 97% of the subjects</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">3.A significant improvement in liver and pancreas function was observed</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">4.And as a result, an improvement in metabolic processes in the body</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Positive results are guaranteed,” Oz says. And, “The average weight loss per week ranges from 11 to 15.4 lbs.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But if you click on the purchase link, you are taken to the order page for… (that’s right): Keto + ACV!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I just question how legit this all is. To begin with, those are HUGE weight losses; 68 lbs. lost in just 30 days? Not believable.</span></p>
<p id="link000011"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Secondly, the accompanying editorial claims there is hydroxymethylbutyrate (HMB) as the key ingredient in this formula. Yet if you pull up the list of ingredients on the label, there is no mention of HMB (see illustration). Are they being tricky and the study was done using HMB </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">plus </span></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Keto Gummies? In which case conclusions wouldn’t be valid, would they?</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It claims there is 1,000 mg of HMB but the ONLY ingredient of which there is 1,000 mg is the apple cider vinegar!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Woa! What’s going on here? This is lying at the highest level. It’s completely illegal to mislead people with the ingredients label, as to what is in a supplement formula.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">PLUS: look at the quantities… It says 2 gummies a day is the serving. But there are only 60 gummies; that’s only a meagre 15-day supply!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And why is there sugar in a slimming product?</span></p>
<p><b>I think this is actually a scam.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Dr. Oz seems to have got himself involved; or is he? Have they just misquoted him? And is Elon Musk really the developer or have they tricked him into appearing too?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is US business-style for you folks!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But now let’s turn our attention more closely to Kelly Clarkson. She claims:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">During my first month I lost 44 pounds with ease! The second month I lost another 34 pounds. I almost don&#8217;t have any cellulite on my legs! My belly finally disappeared! Isn&#8217;t it great? With this product I went from size L to M, and now I can wear pretty and fashionable clothes instead of bland large dresses. I also have gained confidence to post photos in swimming suits. I am very happy with my new body, but to be even cooler I want to lose a few more pounds. That&#8217;s why I take the gummies. I think one more week and I will achieve the result I want.</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Taking a course of &#8220;Keto Genesis&#8221; has allowed me to lose 78 pounds in a short amount of time, she claims.</span></p>

<p><b>Because today, in a British newspaper, we find Kelly’s REAL story and how she lost weight.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> And it wasn’t Ozempic, as some people claim. It wasn’t Keto + ACV Gummies, as she claims. But the 41-year old lost 37-pounds (not 78 lbs), apparently; you can’t argue with that, the photos are not faked (well, I don’t think so!) </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She did it with vigorous walking (told ya!), a low-carb diet (told ya!), infra-red saunas (told ya!) and ice baths (you’ll never get me up in one of those!) </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now this doesn’t fit with Gummies publicity but it does fit with what I know. In other words, it’s all natural…</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She’s been walking a lot, after moving to New York and walking most places in the city. Just to get off your butt and walk ‘most everywhere is a great way to lose weight and fast (remember the 10,000-steps diet?)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A <a href="https://alternative-doctor.com/low-carb-diets-and-inflammation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">low-carb diet</a>, despite the nutritional dodos claiming over and over that it’s “controversial”, is Mankind’s natural diet. There were still some Stone Age societies on earth, when I was a kid. You never saw an overweight individual in historic photos; just lean and mean, athletic figures.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We were not carnivores but certainly not vegetarian. Studies of paleolithic diets revealed humans ate a diet that was 60% meat. Clarkson claims that eating steaks suits her, as a Texan!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I posted a piece about infra-red saunas a few weeks back and pointed out the many health benefits, including detoxing and weight control benefits. Taking a sauna can mimic up to an hour’s exercize and burn up to 500 calories. Not bad fit sitting down!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So that leaves ice baths (or very cold showers). What’s that about?</span></p>
<h2><b>Brown Adipose Tissue</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A review from The Arctic University in Norway, for example, found that cold water immersions could lead to weight loss and protection against type 2 diabetes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The review of 104 studies looked at the effects of cold water blood circulation, the immune system, inflammation and oxidative stress. The researchers found that taking a dip in water with temperatures below 68F (20C) was found to activate brown adipose tissue, a type of &#8216;good&#8217; body fat that burns calories to maintain body temperature.²</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It also increased the production of the protein adiponectin, which plays a key role in protecting against insulin resistance and diabetes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Additionally, a study published in the journal Cell Reports Medicine found that young men who went for an icy swim and spent time in the sauna once a week burned more calories than those who didn&#8217;t. </span></p>

<p>Well, that’s lucky. Seriously! Most people today are GROSSLY overweight.</p>



<p>In fact, the majority in the Western world are seriously overweight or even obese. Especially in the USA, where 53% of the population is obese, pre-diabetic, or obese AND diabetic (a condition that’s been christened “diabesity”).</p>



<p>You would think maybe that the USA comes off worst. But that’s not true, actually. Even China, of all places, is worse than the US. Forget that mental image of a spidery, wiry little coolie and realize that—much as they are griping about US political and economics—they LOVE the Western lifestyle!</p>



<p>Macdonalds is present and in the Middle Kingdom (a pet name for China) and we all know what that means. The infamous chain opened the<em> then-largest</em> restaurant in the world. The grand opening day in April 1992 was exceptional: more than forty thousand customers were served by nearly one thousand employees!</p>



<p>It’s mind-boggling. The food industry, of course, is the single biggest cause of obesity and ill-health. Remember Milton Spurlock told us in his movie “Supersize Me” that after a month eating Macdonald&#8217;s burgers and colas, the had to give up &#8212; on his doctor’s advice: that style of eating was producing visible liver damage in LESS THAN 30 DAYS!</p>



<p>Today, we know a lot more. We have the <em>science of weight loss</em>. Medical science has worked its way past the “You need more willpower” and “Eat less and exercise more” stages, we’ve begun to understand that there are a host of factors that affect our weight; not even just how much we eat!</p>



<p>We realize now that it’s not will power, it’s not just the food industry lies. There are DOZENS of factors which influence weight, including, but not confined to, poisons in our environment, right now, that will force you to gain weight, even if you are a careful and measured eater. We call them <em>obesogens</em> (obesity generators).&nbsp;</p>



<p>GMOs and glyphosate, for sure, make you gain weight.</p>



<p>Epigenetics—not just your genes but what influences your genes—is now known to be really crucial. The people who used to say, “It’s in my glands” or “In my genes” were laughed at. We knew they were just gluttons. But in fact, these individuals are right. If you have certain metabolic disorders, you will never lose weight, until the condition is corrected.</p>

<p>I know science is a dirty word these days (too much of it is faked). But there are good people out there, researching hard, and finding surprising answers for us.</p>

<p>In the USA alone, 88% fail one or more healthy parameters associated with glucose metabolism. Put the other way round, only 12% of the US population are healthy, in terms of weight control factors (fasting insulin, triglycerides, BMI, hip-to-waist ratio, etc.) </p>

<p>Each of the major risk factors for type 2 diabetes is lifestyle related.  That means it can be <strong>prevented</strong> with healthy lifestyle choices and if you are diagnosed, it can be <strong>reversed</strong> by making the right choices for your body and sticking to it.</p>
<p>Treating type 2 diabetes naturally is so simple that it makes you wonder why this disease is an epidemic in the first place!  These methods are free!  There is time to change the dangerous tide of lifestyle-related diabetes around the world!</p>
<p>1-in-5 people have a chance of developing type 2 diabetes in their lifetime.</p>
<p>All those risk factors listed above also have another thing in common.  <u>Chronic inflammation</u>.  The root of all evil, as far as I’m concerned, when it comes to your health.</p>
<p>Chronic inflammation increases your risk of disease in every cell in your body and will kill you as sure as a gun.  Obesity leads to greater inflammation, as do lack of exercise, improper nutrition, and smoking.</p>
<p>New studies have found that people who are obese have different gut flora than people who maintain a healthy body weight.  Leaner people have more beneficial gut bacteria that help promote good digestive system health, which helps you absorb nutrients more efficiently and flush toxins from your body.</p>
<p>Without enough good gut flora and excessive inflammation, you’re piloting a sinking ship.  You must start reversing the damage from head to toe and <u>you need to start today</u>.</p>
<p><strong>Reduce Inflammation and Prevent Disease </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Diet:</strong> Get rid the refined sugar, refined flour, and ridiculous amounts of simple carbohydrates found in over-processed foods.  Stop consuming hydrogenated oils such as margarine and all vegetable oils.  Replace all the garbage with organic fruits and vegetables, grain-fed beef, probiotic yogurt, and fermented foods (such as kefir and natto).  Fast <em>food</em> is a fast <em>way</em> to destroy your health.  Treating type 2 diabetes naturally STARTS and ENDS with what you are putting in your body.</li>
<li><strong>Weight:</strong> The pounds must come off for you to live the life you are meant to live.  Your heart, your digestive system, your brain, and every cell in between will thank you.  Obesity is linked to dozens of serious diseases.  Much like type 2 diabetes, experts estimate that many causes of death should list “obesity” rather than diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.  Those pounds are weighing you down in ways you might not realize for another ten or twenty years.  Get rid of them to have the quality of life you deserve.</li>
<li><strong>Exercise:</strong> No more excuses!  You don’t have to train as if you’re an Olympic athlete but you must move to keep your body healthy.  You already know this so start small.  Stretching exercises, swimming, or short walks – do something each and every day to change sedentary habits.</li>
<li><strong>Sleep:</strong> Most people consider sleep last but I have been trumpeting its importance for decades!  Your body cannot do system repairs unless you sleep and a few hours isn’t going to do the trick.  This is a simple and wonderful way for your body to lower inflammation, repair damaged tissue, produce new cells, and allow your brain to rest.  Eight hours of sleep every night…it isn’t unreasonable.  I’ve written extensively on this life-changing habit.</li>
<li><strong>Smoking:</strong> It’s dangerous.  It’s expensive.  It will kill you.  The nicotine habit can be as difficult to quit as hard drugs but you simply must find a way.  Every puff takes a little bit more from you, from your health, from your future.  Take back control of your life and your health by dropping the tobacco!</li>
</ul>
<p>Learning how to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes naturally (or reverse it if you get it) is directly connected to <u>lowering the inflammatory response</u> in your body.</p>
<p>Living a longer, stronger, healthier, and happier life begins from the inside out.  Everything is connected.  All of these lifestyle habits (that are <strong>within your control</strong>) are the leading causes of chronic illness, disease, and premature death.</p>

<p>An allergic reaction is what your immune system causes when confronted with something to which it has developed a sensitivity.  Allergies can come in many different forms.</p>
<h2><strong>Most Common Allergens</strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Foods</li>
<li>Dust</li>
<li>Insects</li>
<li>Animal dander</li>
<li>Plants and mold</li>
<li>Latex</li>
<li>Prescription or over-the-counter drugs</li>
</ul>
<p>The front-runner for most allergic reactions is food…and more than <strong>32 million Americans</strong> (including more than <strong>5 million children</strong>) have been diagnosed with a mild to severe allergy to a specific food.</p>
<p>That doesn’t count all the people who have <em>undiagnosed</em> allergies – <u>who don’t even know they are allergic</u>!  Do you know the most common (and uncommon) signs of food allergies?</p>
<p>When most people think about food allergies, they are familiar with those shown in movies.  Anaphylaxis shock due to an allergy to one of the Big 8 (eggs, seafood, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, shellfish, soy, and wheat) is used as a “plot device” to create drama or suspense in books and movies because without treatment, it can lead to coma or death.</p>
<p>There are approximately 30,000 cases of emergency room visits in the United States involving anaphylaxis annually and around 200 people die as a result of severe reactions to allergens.</p>
<p><strong><em>The “well known” signs of food allergies…</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A tightening of the airways and inability to breathe</li>
<li>Swelling in the throat that feels like a blockage</li>
<li>Severe drop in blood pressure</li>
<li>Lightheadedness to the point of passing out</li>
</ul>
<p>There are other symptoms and signs of food allergies that you might ignore because they aren’t severe enough to cause you concern.  The problem with ignoring them is that the more you expose yourself (even unknowingly) to a food that stimulates an immune response, the greater your risk of your reaction worsening over time.</p>
<p>For instance, someone who is allergic to peanuts (or any of the 8 most dangerous allergens) may have an episode that is mild the first time.  The next time, their body’s reaction will be slightly worse…and then worse the time after that until eventually, they risk anaphylaxis.</p>
<p>Some allergies are so severe that anaphylaxis is induced with the first episode!</p>
<p>Now, an undiagnosed food allergy may cause a lesser response.  In fact, it may be a food that consistently “doesn’t agree with your stomach” or other similar effects.  Symptoms of an allergic reaction involving food can develop quickly (within minutes) or take as long as two hours.</p>
<h2><strong>Food Allergy Signs</strong><strong> You Might Be Ignoring</strong></h2>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Itching, tingling, or numbness in or around the mouth</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Splotchy or itchy spots on your skin</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Unexplained “puffiness” above the neck (can happen elsewhere on the body)</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Irritated sinuses, congestion, or difficulty breathing</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Stomach upset that includes cramps in the abdomen, bloating, gas, diarrhea, or nausea</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Feeling dizzy or lightheaded to the point of passing out</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Fatigue, lack of energy, or moodiness after eating</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Pain in the muscles and joints</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Trouble sleeping</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;">• Problems with concentration or recall</p>
<p>Sensitivity, intolerance, and allergies to foods – especially entire food groups – can lead to other conditions and nutritional deficiency.  Finding the underlying cause to what is making you sick is more important than many people realize.</p>
<h2><strong>Get to the Root of the Problem!</strong></h2>
<p>Long-term exposure to foods your body can’t handle results in inflammation.  Unchecked <u>inflammation is the root cause for as much as 90% chronic conditions and diseases</u> such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.</p>
<p>When the problem is with the foods you consume, symptoms may overlap and be misdiagnosed.  Most doctors treat the symptoms rather than the whole body and often miss the big picture!</p>
<p><strong><em>The secret to being mentally sharp, physically fit, and looking ten years younger is not about <u>what you should eat</u>…it’s all about <u>what you should stop eating</u>!</em></strong></p>
<p>That part of the equation is so critical to your overall health.  I’ve written about it in my book “<strong>One Diet For Life</strong>” but don’t let the name fool you!  <a href="https://www.onediet4life.net/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“<strong>One Diet For Life</strong>” isn’t some fad weight loss plan or a rambling about the latest and greatest “miracle pill.”</a></p>
<p><strong>It’s all about the foods *you* can and cannot tolerate.  </strong>Specific to you as an individual that won’t work for anyone else on the planet…not even a parent, sibling, or child.</p>
<p>That’s right!  The key to <u>fantastic health cannot be duplicated from person to person</u> because what works for you might not work for me (and the opposite is also true).  Naturally, there are “healthy” foods that all of us need but that doesn’t mean that everyone can tolerate them equally.</p>
<p>A natural side effect of eating the best foods for you is better health, feeling amazing, and being in a better position to control your weight.</p>
<p>I was one of the pioneers in the food allergy movement in the 1970s and 1980s.  Over the years of treating my patients, I learned that the most important thing about nutrition is not what you are lacking, but what you are eating that your body isn’t able to process well.</p>
<p>You need a system that allows you to work out what’s right for your individual body.  Sure, it can take focus and time but the result will be how good you feel eating the best foods (that your body loves) and avoiding the wrong foods (that send your body into chaos).</p>
<p>It all boils down to listening to your body, not ignoring the milder signs of food allergies, and doing what makes it feel great.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I was talking with Joe Mercola a few days ago and he shared the single most powerful intervention a person can make to improve and sustain a healthy life.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What do you think it was?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Get fit? Exercize more? Eat less? Eat wholefood? Plant-based foods? Nah… None of that boring old stuff!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It was about food, yes, true. But not WHAT you eat, or HOW MUCH you eat, but WHEN you eat. This is something relatively new.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Joe has started talking about an “eating window”. This is easier to understand than intermittent fasting or “time-restricted” eating, which are fashionable concepts just now.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In fact Joe went so far as to quote a study showing that 2 populations of animals, eating relatively poor food, same number of calories, had a different response, according to WHEN they ate! The animals which were restricted in the hours which they were allowed to eat lost weight, while the controls did not.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The animals which lost weight were not “on a diet”; they were on a schedule!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Applying that to humans, it means that reducing the number of hours you allow yourself to eat during the day is MORE IMPORTANT than counting calories, carbs, ketones or anything else! This could be an ideal formula for the would-be slimmer: don’t worry about your food, worry about how often you eat.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Joe suggested reducing your “eating window” to only 8 hours a day. Actually, he said when you get used to that, reduce it again: to a 6-hour window. The benefits are enormous.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’ll drift in and out of keto-fasting states, in which your body performs the miracle clean up we call autophagy (Joe and I differed on pronunciation: he corrected me to aut-offagy, but even Americans don’t say aut-ommabeel (car) do you?)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Autophagy means “eating self” from the Greek. Not as scary as it sounds. It means cleaning up old senescent cells and tissue debris and then re-cycling it as healthy new cells. That’s one of the reason people who practice keto and intermittent fasting feel so rejuvenated. All the old trash and junk is mopped up, leaving you clear-headed, energetic and vibrant.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">All my long-term subscribers know my maxim: </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">that if you don’t leap out of bed in the morning, with excess bundles of energy to get through your day, then you are not truly healthy.</span></em></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Not only autophagy but we also mobilize lots of stem cells, to readily make new tissues, to replace the old and beat up tissues. Remember the days, a few years back, when we had to buy Russian embryo stems cells to get youthful and healthy? That was always B*S* and I warned subscribers not to fall for it. We were not ready. Then, suddenly, we realized that are OWN stem cells are a priceless resource, available to us by taking a few simple steps… OF WHICH eating far less was the most important trigger!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The trouble is, we make one deadly and continuous mistake: we eat virtually non-stop. And by that I mean most people eat 12 – 18 hours a day. While one meal is still in our stomach digesting, we have a snack, or we are onto our next 1500-calorie binge! Cumulatively, we swallow a virtual river of food. And there’s a problem…</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our bodies are not hard-wired to eat this way. In the wild we were free-roaming, over plains or through forests, and ate when we could. 50,000 years ago, there was no Starbucks or MacDonald’s at every corner! That gap between meals, it has emerged, is one of the most crucial health issues.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Intermittent fasting has become established as the natural (biological) way to go for humans. We are hunter-gatherers. We walked through forests and over the plains, eating WHEN WE COULD, not when we wanted to. So our bodies are programmed for this intermittent eating: perhaps we should adopt the term intermittent eating, instead of intermittent fasting. The word fasting is scary to some.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">See, we think of eating at 8.00 am and the snacking at 11.00 and having lunch at 12.30 or 1.00 as spaced out eating. It is not! The 8.00 mass of food has not shifted when we hit our guts again with the 11.00 and then the 12.30.</span></p>
<p><strong>The New Way</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s been said, wisely, that you have to change SOMETHING, otherwise you just keep ending up in the same place. If you are overweight, diabetic or pre-diabetic, it’s time to make a change. Maybe using just a narrow eating window will give you a new perspective on health.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You could try 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, or 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. What Joe and I are both agreed on is you shouldn’t finish late. Starting at 1.00 pm and having your last meal at 9.00 pm does no good. You go to sleep with a full stomach and don’t metabolize the food.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I remarked to him that, when I lived in Spain, it was common during the hot summer months, to siesta till about 5.00 pm, when it started to get cooler. But we would often go out with friend at 10.00 or 11.00 pm and then start a meal about midnight, even 1.00 am in the morning! It’s paradoxical, isn’t it, that Mediterraneans, who have a famously healthy diet, should violate basic physiology in this way. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But it has been argued that they are on the wrong time zone. They are on European time, yet sit mostly to the west of Britain and Ireland! In fact Spain is on the same time frame as Croatia, hundreds of miles to the east. Therefore Spanish time runs very late, giving sunsets around 10.00 pm in summer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So maybe physiology is right after all. The Spaniards are just contrarians. Well, they were when I lived there! Ole!</span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When you consider </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">obesity causes</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, one fact stands out clearly: </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">our bodies are being overdosed with FOOD</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">.  In my four decades of being a doctor, I’ve learned that some of our </span><strong>biggest health concerns</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> come not from what you’re </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">lacking</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> but from what you’re </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">eating</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that your body doesn’t want or need.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You already know that portions in developed countries are out of control…it’s far more food than the human body needs.  However, when you add the flood of over-processed and chemically heavy choices to the situation, and you create a perfect storm of </span><strong>inflammatory conditions</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that your body is unable to overcome naturally.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Simple, whole foods that provide the energy and nutrition you need to live have fallen by the wayside.  </span><strong>The obesity epidemic is a real – and potentially catastrophic – situation.  </strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, more than </span><strong>two-thirds</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the United States population alone is considered overweight or obese.  Obesity statistics are around </span><strong>18% for children</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and rapidly rising to join the overwhelming rate of adult obesity.</span></p>
<p><strong>Obesity Causes: The Role of Inflammation</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Inflammation has now been linked as a </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">cause of obesity</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and the reverse is also true that obesity leads to systemic inflammation.  This highly dangerous process attacks and inflames your tissues until you are left vulnerable to disease.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, diabetes, and more all have </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">risk factors linked to both obesity and inflammation</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">.  Either of these two conditions – if left untreated – will lead to illness and rapid aging.  </span></p>
<p><strong>The World Can No Longer Ignore the Signs</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A recent study completed at Norway’s Research Institute for Internal Medicine, University of Oslo found that </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">obesity is just as dangerous as malnutrition</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on a molecular level.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It has been known for decades that malnutrition damages the immune system and leaves your body vulnerable to infections and disease.  The immune system uses temporary inflammation to fight bacteria, viruses, and parasites in your body. When the risk is resolved, the inflammation lowers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It turns out that eating too much boosts the immune response without a threat, causing </span><strong>chronic inflammation</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the verified source of some of the biggest killers on the planet.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Professor Bente Halvorsen explained, “With this new knowledge, we can better understand why too much food can cause such serious diseases as heart attack, stroke, cancer and chronic intestinal inflammation.  We can reduce the inflammatory reaction by losing weight.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is much more research to be done but initial results point to the mitochondria – our cells’ power sources – and how they convert fat to energy.  Too much food stresses these tiny power plants and causes damage that leads to inflammation. </span></p>

		<title>Pain Is Big Business</title>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pain is the number one reason people go to the doctor. Why? Doctors don’t know much about healing! They just dish out painkillers and don’t know how to solve anything. In fact a doctor is the last person I would go to, if I was in pain.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You only need to read about the opioid crisis to realize there is something very wrong with the orthodox management of pain. What you are seeing is corporate greed on display and plain, old-fashioned ignorance from the majority of doctors.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I’m very disappointed in my profession today. The average doctor is lazy, ignorant, unsympathetic and, yes, even abusive. I know of patients being shouted at by an oncologist, because they ask questions. That’s gross.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But nowhere is laziness and ignorance more on view than when it comes to pain. The doctor is writing a script for painkillers before the patient has even finished describing their distress!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yet, what is crazy is that this is called “scientific” medicine. I’ve often complained about this scam and derision before. If the doctor prescribes “scientifically proven” medication A and it doesn’t work, the patient is back in a week and so the doctor prescribes “scientifically proven” medication B. Maybe that doesn’t work either, so it goes on to Meds C.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What is scientific about this jumping around? It’s not even a scientific method. It’s just muddling along, with guesswork and prejudice. It’s a joke to call it scientific or evidence-based (that’s another favorite scam label).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Of course it’s natural for painkillers to escalate. Because meds A doesn’t work, the doctor will prescribe “stronger” meds B, and so it goes on, until inevitably opioids (opiates) become the final choice. And then, when there is nothing stronger, the doctor starts upping the dose.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It still doesn’t work, so the patient takes more than is safe and maybe dies. Michael Jackson, to be fair, probably killed himself by taking too much propofol (a hypnotic drug used for general anesthesia, sedation and in veterinary medicine) along with lidocaine anesthetic and a bevy of other drugs. He went far beyond what was prescribed, that’s for sure.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But then the doctor, Conrad Murray MD, should have been alert to the fact that a mentally unstable patient was already doing that. A recording was heard in court that Jackson’s speech was much slurred. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But, hey, Michael Jackson is just a celebrity casualty—a bit like Elvis Presley—too big to refuse or argue with! His case is in no way sadder or more mournful than the other 29,000 US yearly opioid overdose deaths (over 120,000 for the world)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The question I come back to is: WHY? Why take pain killers? Pain is Nature’s way of calling attention to a problem. WHY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">All pain ultimately is inflammation. Inflammation is a fiery condition of the tissues, featuring pain, swelling, redness and loss of function. There is ALWAYS a reason for pain. It needs to be investigated and cured (solved). The actual symptom of pain can be turned off by addressing the inflammation. Even omega-3s can work better than most drugs—because they tackle the inflammation—not by tuning out the pain.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">OK, a dental abscess can be miserably painful (ouch!) Take a few aspirin or paracetomol (Tylenol) till the dentist relieves the pressure in the bone, or antibiotics start to work, if that’s the way you choose to go. But if you had, say, an Avazzia Life microcurrent therapy device in your medicine cupboard (you should have!) you can encourage faster healing without the use of any painkiller or drugs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Opioids are definitely not needed. But of course the pharmaceutical industry doesn’t want you cured. They want the pain to go on and on and on… forever! Because that means you’ll be buying painkillers for the rest of your life!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Think of the profits on that!</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There may be other very important ways to beat inflammation you may not think of! For example, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">being overweight is highly inflammatory</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Did you know that?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Belly fat is inflammatory in nature, but the inflammation can strike anywhere in the body. I know people with miserable backache, needing to take painkillers (they suppose), where it just turned out to be diet and inflammation. The person took care, lost weight and the back pain was totally nixed. No more painkillers! THAT’S the kind of solution I advocate.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">See, if you are overweight it puts pressure on your joints. Not just the knees and ankles, though obviously they have to support the extra weight. That’s to miss the whole point of a dynamic skeleton. Med students are used to seeing the skeleton as a box of bits (I had one). From such a perspective it’s hard to picture the working skeleton as a dynamic balanced whole.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But that’s the truth of it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Leaning back a little because of a big belly will cause your entire spine to creak in a way that is not natural. Women with extra large breasts are well aware of this leaning backache effect and sometimes seek to have their breasts reduced (sorry guys!)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Thing is, it all hangs together. You eat RIGHT and you feel good, lose weight and eliminate pain. It’s a fab formula (deliberate echo of the Beatles there!) That’s where my masterpiece DIET WISE comes in. But I don’t want to be boring by being repetitious. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s not just another slimming plan (yawn). It’s about the understanding and management of healthy weight by being aware of the many factors which influence weight gain. It’s no longer enough to point to people who are fat and do “fat shaming”, I think it’s called, and suppose they are greedy guzzlers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">All of us are subject to malign influences (largely from big business cartels, it has to be said) that make saying slim very difficult. In fact impossible, if you don’t know what you are up against. For example our environment is now heavily polluted by “obesogens”, foreign chemicals which promote obesity. Glutamates, which are added to our foods deliberately (to get us addicted), actually cause weight gain in their own right. By that I mean two people eating an identical diet, calorie for calorie, one with MSG in the food will gain weight, the other not.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Then there are genes. It started with the so-called “fatso gene” (FTO) discovered 10 years ago but now there are a dozen other genetic influences. They can be tuned out—but you have to know how.</span></p>

<p>I’ve said before that most so-called “scientists” today do not investigate the truth. They try to prove some pre-determined point of view (“We conducted a trial to prove that…” sort of approach) You can often tell what they are after by seeing what they chose to measure.</p>
<p>Here the industry is setting out to trash the reputation of probiotics (despite thousands of studies showing clear benefit). They chose yoghurt, NOT probiotics, but we’ll let that pass for the moment. This was with some pretty hokey “science”.</p>

<p>Not that the clinical findings can be ignored but that their interpretation of results could be way off the mark.</p>
<p>Goof #1: First of all they studied YOGHURT, not probiotics. There’s the world of difference. Yoghurt is a dairy food, which could be a major confounding problem, as we will see. Real probiotics for humans would be bifido bacteria, not lactobacillus, as in yoghurt.</p>
<p>Goof #2. Vagueness, not precision. “…if you inadvertently colonise your small bowel with probiotic bacteria, then you have set the stage for potentially developing lactic acidosis and brain fogginess,&#8221; says the study’s lead researcher and gastroenterologist Satish S.C. Rao. Note the use of the word “potentially”, not provably.</p>
<p>Goof #3. Probiotics plus sugar in food caused brain fogginess. Therefore the cause was the probiotics, they say, NOT SUGAR. That’s idiotic. Sugar causes brain fog and lethargy in all individuals, not just those taking probiotics.</p>
<p>Goof #4. &#8220;Probiotics should be treated as a drug,&#8221; Rao says, &#8220;not as a food supplement.&#8221; Since when is yoghurt a drug? But Rao says the experience of the patients he and his team clinically observed over three years shows nobody should casually or indiscriminately be taking probiotics without taking medical advice.</p>
<p>I think all that Rao and his team actually proved was that you should NOT take advice on probiotics from a trained doctor. You’ll get sick. That much he DID PROVE, incontrovertibly! The rest is mainly hogwash.</p>
<p><strong>Dairy Allergy</strong></p>
<p>Many years ago (1980s) I was interviewed by the BBC (before I got christened the world’s “Number One Allergy Detective” Sunday Mail 1990). I found myself saying that if I was allowed to ban just one food for humans, I’d ban milk. At a stroke I could cure hundreds of millions of individuals, from diseases such as migraine, irritable bowel, arthritis, eczema, diabetes and even cancer (they wouldn’t let me say the latter, of course).</p>
<p>Yes, I could have picked wheat. But on the spur of the moment I chose milk. It causes more misery, brain fog, emotional disturbance, wrecked organs, chronic fatigue, bowel disturbance, immune suppression and other mischief than even grains (DON’T write to me about raw milk. Milk carries and creates a whole raft of disorders).</p>
<p>Oxford don Robert Burton (1577 – 1640) wrote a great classic called The Anatomy of Melancholy (he himself suffered from severe depression from time to time).</p>

<p>But Burton was smart. He observed that, “<i>Milk, and all that comes of milk, as butter and choose, curds, etc. increase melancholy (whey only excepted, which is most wholesome).”</i> I’ve quoted all this in my diet masterpiece <a href="http://www.on2url.com/app/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=96247&amp;AdID=906015" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>DIET WISE</strong></a>. He didn’t know what a food allergy was. But he knew well that milk can be a virtual poison.</p>
<p>So did Rao’s team eliminate milk allergy as a possible influence? Of course not. The idiots didn’t even seem aware that that’s what they were mainly measuring.</p>
<p><b>What They Did Find</b></p>
<p>One finding was incontrovertible: taking a lot of probiotics causes a lactic acidosis. That itself is enough to make a patient feel groggy and headachy. But we knew that, back in the 1980s, long before probiotics were on the rise.</p>
<p>In fact it’s caused by an allergic reaction, NOT probiotics bacteria.</p>
<p>Don’t get me started here because this is the origin of the deadly myth that eating “alkaline” foods and water cures every disease known to man. So does cider vinegar: aka. acetic acid! Both acid and alkali does the same job? Cure all?</p>
<p>This stupid myth needs to die because it KILLS people. <i>About 50% of people with cancer will die quicker if they alkalize (Emanuel Revici).</i> Have you ever read that on the Web with these self-styled health researchers? Of course not. They all circulate the same mistakes.</p>
<p>But we knew back in the day that if someone had a strong allergic reaction, he or she would turn rapidly acid (lower pH), mainly due to lactic acid. All it needed was a dose of “alkali salts” (2 parts sodium bicarb to 1 part potassium bicarb) to relieve the symptoms. We followed that with a mild laxative (Epsom salts) to clear the food residues from the bowel as quickly as possible.</p>
<p>I told all this in my book <strong><a href="http://www.on2url.com/app/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=96247&amp;AdID=906015" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">DIET WISE</a></strong> too!</p>
<p>The entirety of the rest of the myth about acid-alkali is just that: myth. Scientific nonsense. Your kidneys will not tolerate a departure from neutral pH. Drinking alkali water and swallowing “alkaline foods” (all foods are both acid and alkaline, even lemons!) just stresses your kidneys, which has to put things back how they should be!</p>
<p>If you ever felt better by avoiding “acid” foods then you were simply allergic to the food. pH has nothing to do with it.</p>
<p>My point? If you feel lousy taking probiotics, STOP! It will soon clear. Find another source. But you know the single quickest way to improve your bowel flora is not to supplement with probiotics at all. It’s to get keto on an intermittent fasting program. It works within hours, never mind weeks.</p>

<p><b>Bottom Line</b></p>
<p>Eat right, eat well and fast occasionally, you’ll be healthy and live long.</p>
<p>That’s also the answer to Rao’s silly study. Don’t eat sugar, in any form whatever. That causes overgrowth of bacteria, including probiotic organisms. That will result in feeling bad.</p>
<p>In the study, patients who reported confusion and difficulty concentrating — in addition to experiencing gas and bloating feelings — were found to be harboring large colonies of bacteria breeding in their small intestines, with high levels of D-lactic acid being produced by bacterial fermentation of sugars in their food.</p>
<p>They reported some striking cases, such as: One patient had recurrent near syncopal (fainting) episodes after carbohydrate-rich meals. Another patient’s symptoms caused her to be bed-ridden for up to a week <i>after consuming a large carbohydrate-rich meal. </i>But surely the cause is the sugar, not poor old lactobacillus microbes?</p>
<p>Another patient had symptoms of bloating and brain fog with a blistering rash on the palms. That’s surely a food allergy, not a probiotic reaction. Duh! C’mon Rao. You’re not even taking a stab at logic here!</p>
