In my opinion the swine flu is a cover up. Some viruses existent today have been made in the lab and ofcourse vaccines have ben developed but not for everyone.

my 5 month old grandson was admitted to hospital a week ago after being off his food and he had eye twitching movements we were rushed to resusc where he was given a drug to stop him fitting which unbeknown to me was the eye twitchin he never had a temperature we kept telling doctors he had a cough was it anything to worry abough their reply was no ,On the next day ha had a lumber puncture and a ct scan he was put on 3 different typea of antibiotics and antivirals as they didnt know what was wrong .We kept telling medicaal staff that he had been in contact with people with swine flu but they said because he had necer had a temp it wouldnt be that . on the saturday we had been moved to another ward that afternoon the eye flickering started again which would last a couple of minutes then he would cough alot then he would pass out this happened 4 times in close succession a doctor was calles and he was given another anti epeleptic drug they doctor requested swabs to test for whooping cough and bronchiolitus which were done sunday morning 4 days after we came in .On the next day monday at 7pm a nurse came and told us he had tested positive for H1N1 we were then moved to isolation and he was started on course of tamiflu he is now recovering well and maybe home tomo we are still awaiting results of EEG that he had done today hopefully no damage has occurred. He was diagnoed with H1N1 with encephalitis and no temperature at all .If he had of been tested right at the very beginning when we said he probably wouldnt of had all the seizures on saturday. So just because someone doesnt have a temperature doesnt mean to say thay dont have swine flu !!!!!!!

I truly wish that the H1N1 virus did not 'cause harm' as proposed by Dr. Keith. However, as a first line nurse in pediatrics here in the United States, I have seen several children with H1N1, and the effects can be devastating. I have seen pediatric patients who seemed to be recovering from H1N1 suddenly return to our pediatric ward with fevers of unknown etiology, only to discover that they have become neutropenic - in layman's terms, the virus has wiped out part of their immune system, and now they battle other bacterial and viral infections without the benefit of their own humoral strength. I have watched as children with H1N1 developed Steven-Johnson's syndrome after their parents provided them with Tylenol. Tylenol! Other pediatric patient's have developed various forms of encephalitis resulting from H1N1 infection.

To say that this virus only negatively affects those who were already unhealthy, or to suggest that it may not cause harm is absolutely irresponsible. People should know that there are healthy children being made gravely ill by this disease. Worse, healthcare workers can spread the disease without knowing it, because someone who is infected may shed the virus for up to 48 hours before they develop symptoms!

I am a healthcare worker, and, as yet, I have been unable to procure vaccination for either H1N1 or 'seasonal influenza' viruses due to shortages. I fear for my own health, as I have been constantly exposed, and feel that eventually my luck in self-protection (hand washing, masks, gowns, goggles, etc...) will run out. Furthermore, I fear for my nine year old son, who could be exposed to H1N1 through me.

If you can be vaccinated, and work in healthcare, please do it. We are ethically bound to protect our patients, and to 'first cause no harm.' I can only hope that the vaccine becomes available to me before I contract and further spread this virus. As for our children, if the vaccine becomes available, make the choice that works for your beliefs. I doubt there was a vaccine in 1918, so using a loose association between vaccination and encephalitis lethargica is nothing more than a scare tactic for the masses.

You said the one that die from swine flu are very ill already. "Almost all the deaths were people already sick and debilitated."
8 have died in my town of 300,000 people so far and NONE had ANY underlying conditions. All healthy adults and children.

It seems more like it strikes the healthier worse than the immune difficiant.
Cytokine storms can explain this.
