Indeed it would David,
Spirits (as opposed to wine) are powerful liver toxins.
Stay away if you have the NAFLD condition.
Sorry, just re-read your Q, would it LOWER liver enzymes?
No, not likely.

When one gets drunk (poisoned) one is doing a proving of a substance, in homeopathic terms. Every substance is unique leading to different mental, physical and emotional qualities of its toxic state. The various alcoholic drinks are no different than any other substance except they are more commonly used, more available and more acutely toxic than many others.

It has been found that what they cause in a healthy person on all levels (mental, physical & emotional), they will cure in a sick person who has a similar constellation of symptoms.

My guess is that the beer drunk is the "I dont give a sh*t" drunk attitude. Hence so many beer cans littering the roads.

My grandmother used to claim she got drunk on iced tea! She lived in Oklahoma, where that was the national drink of choice of the Bible Belt, but she never drank it. Of course, she never drank alcohol either, so maybe she just got shaky or something.

However, I recently learned I have the MTHFR genetic defect which drastically slows methylation, so that I don't clear many toxins, including heavy metals, alcohol, gas at the dentist's office, and others. Aspartame causes me to have seizures. Three drinks and I'm throwing up. Since this is inherited and I have one of both genes they test for, Grandma no doubt had the problem, too.

I hope more doctors will soon learn about this defect, which affects up to 41% of people in America and more in Canada, and learn about the simple dietary measures that help overcome the lack of methylation.
