Homeopathy is one of the most brilliant—and most misunderstood—therapies in all of medicine. You see it dubbed as quackery all over the place and ALWAYS by fools who have never even tried it—or the promoters of costly Western-style medicine, who are acting to protect the pharmaceutical trade.
Their stand is “It can’t possibly work, therefore it’s a fraud.” This position comes about due to the extreme dilutions that are used; sometimes a homeopathic preparation is so dilute, there is none of the original substance left, hence the claim that is cannot possibly do anything useful.
But that’s the material “stuff” orientation, so characteristic of an industry that believes more is better, and only “stuff” can change the course of an illness (neither of which is actually true).
In fact homeopaths do not dispute the claim that there is no worthwhile substance present. We say IT’S IRRELEVANT! Substance is not the issue, but the message of health is. It’s information, informing energy, which informs the physical, which cures the disease.
And it works!
That’s why, during the Spanish flu’ epidemic of 1918 and the British diphtheria epidemic of 1947, these horribly fatal diseases were almost entirely survived by patients treated homeopathically. Indeed, during the diphtheria epidemic, not one child died in the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital, while outside the walls, where the disease raged unchecked, the mortality rate was close to 50%.
Make no mistake: although diphtheria is a rare disease today, it was once the scourge of children with a high mortality. In the records of three years of Diphtheria in Broome County, NY from 1862 to 1864, there was a report of an 83.6% mortality rate among the orthodox doctors (which is terrible) and yet a mortality rate of only 16.4% among the Homeopaths.
The mortality rate for the Spanish flu’ treated with orthodox medicine and drugs for the Spanish flu was 28 percent. In comparison, those treated by homeopathic physicians had a mortality rate of only 1 percent.1
But it doesn’t stop there: Between 2004 and the present, trials carried out in Cuba for cholera, dengue fever, swine flu, pneumonia, hepatitis A, leptospirosis, and the current coronavirus have produced stunning effects, showing disease prevention rates (as measured by antibodies) between 85 percent and 97 percent! Of course what is good about these studies is that in Cuba, under Fidel Castro, Big Pharma was not around, meddling, suppressing, distorting and falsifying results in it own interests.2
Effectiveness
Countless studies from all round the world have shown how effective homeopathy is. Yet there are endless claims it has no scientific evidence to back it up. Critics just ignore any evidence of effectiveness and go on mouthing these dismissive words, as if they were true.
Successful trials of homeopathy and its effectiveness are suppressed, ignored, denied, derided or countered with pseudo-scientific rhetoric. But none of this alters the fact that it works. Fools say homeopathy is discredited, worthless, unscientific, quackery… yet Switzerland accepts it officially as part of the standard medical canon. It’s a boon in Cuba, because it is cheap and the Cuban population are astonishingly healthy, after 60 years without Big Pharma!
In India (the land of homeopathy) homeopathy is well-accepted and used by millions, not just because it works but also because it is very cheap; pennies on the dollar (which is the real reason Big Pharma wants it attacked relentlessly and got rid of). And get this: homeopathic remedies are the ONLY successful therapies against the dreaded brain tumor glioblastoma multiforme.
At the Banerjee Clinic, in Kolkata (former Calcutta), 6 out of 7 glioblastoma cases went into full remission, that’s astounding. Using orthodox treatments, patients usually die within months, or even weeks (this is the tumor that killed Ted Kennedy, who ironically, until his dying day, backed Big Pharma and fought against holistic medicine. It cost him his life).
American researchers went to see the work for themselves. One member of the research team, Dr Moshe Frenkel MD, who was at the time working as the MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in Houston, was astounded by what he witnessed. “I saw things there that I couldn’t explain. Tumors shrank with nothing else other than homeopathic remedies. X-rays had shown there had been a lesion on the lung and a year after taking the remedy it had shrunk or disappeared.”3
Matching The Disease
One of the prime criticisms of homeopathy from orthodox doctors is that it is a system where the remedies might change. For those raised on the notion that acetominophen (Tylenol) and morphia are used only to treat pain; antacids only to treat heartburn; SSRIs for depression (ugh!); Ambien (zolpidem) for sleeplessness; antibiotics and potassium citrate for a urinary infections; the rather anal homeopathic approach doesn’t make sense.
But their model is different to the homeopathic model; something orthodox doctors can’t seem to get through their heads!
-
- In homeopathy, we may treat a common cold (coryza, often called the “flu”) with Dulcamara if the person comes down with a cold after getting wet and chilled, or if colds come on when the weather changes. A stopped-up nose and face pain are likely.
- If a cold begins with stiffness and body aches, especially during cool damp weather or weather changes, and leads to nasal congestion or sore throat, Rhus tox (poison ivy) should come to mind. The person feels extremely restless and often paces or fidget. Warmth and motion bring relief, both physically and mentally.
- If the patient is hot and achy; red, watery, irritated eyes, frequent sneezing, and a mild, clear nasal discharge suggests a need for Euphrasia.
- A headache, and a diminished sense of smell or taste may respond to natrium muriaticum (common salt potentized as a remedy), the person may develop cold sores around the mouth, and the lips can be chapped and cracked.
A person who has frequent colds, sore throats, and chest problems—with burning pain and feelings of weakness, restlessness, and anxiety—may benefit from arsenicum album (white arsenic potentized as a remedy). The person’s head may feel hot while the rest of the body is cold, and problems can be worse near midnight. The nose often feels stopped up, and the person may sneeze repeatedly, without relief.
And so on. The reader will understand the point I’m making. The remedy has to be fitted to the patient; there is no one-size-fits-all approach with homeopathy, as is standard with orthodox medicine (but then, we don’t have all those unpleasant and potentially dangerous side-effects either)!
That’s the reason homeopaths will take a much more detailed history than a doctor normally does: what time of day are the symptoms worst? What may ease the symptoms? What exacerbates them? Any effect from fresh air, or damp weather? And so on.
The most appropriate-sounding remedy is tried first. If it appears ineffective, a good homeopath will solicit more details and try to get a closer fit with the patient’s symptoms.
It’s world apart from the blunderbuss approach of orthodox prescribing! The above list of suggestions, by the way, comes from the Kaiser-Permanente website, which may surprise some readers! (https://wa.kaiserpermanente.org)
The Nosode Principle
Homeopathy may have a special place is treating viral disease. We have an approach which is not unlike vaccination: a little bit of the toxin tunes up the body to resist the ill effects. We call this a nosode, a word derived from the Greek word ‘nosos’ meaning ‘disease’. By definition, nosodes comprise dilutions of pathogenic organs or tissues, such as bacteria, fungi, ova, parasites, virus particles, yeasts and other disease products. But because of the high dilution principle, they are quite safe.
Nosodes are best used prophylactically, rather than therapeutically. I used to do this from 1982 onwards, for whooping cough (pertussis) at my facility in Manchester and it proved very popular among mums concerned (rightly) about the safety of DPT innoculations.
Over a 5-year period, I never heard of one case of a child so treated by me who actually developed pertussis!
In India where, as I said already, homeopathy is HUGE, nosodes have been used successfully to treat many diseases, including those of epidemic proportions. Success has been recorded against Spanish flu, cholera, plague, yellow fever, dengue, leptospirosis and chikungunya.4
During epidemics, there are two ways of finding homoeopathic prophylaxis: one is identifying a medicine on the basis of the symptoms of a number of patients suffering from the epidemic disease. The medicine which covers most of the symptoms is declared the genus epidemicus and is recommended for use as prophylaxis, as well as treatment, during the current epidemic.
Thus Hahnemann himself in the epidemic of acute typhus in 1813, used Bryonia and Rhus tox as the genus epidemicus. Hahnemann treated 180 cases and only lost two patients (0.1%). The mortality rate of the orthodox doctors was 30%.
One more actual example: During a dengue outbreak in Delhi in 1996, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy distributed Dengueinum 30 (prepared from the serum of person suffering from dengue fever) to 39,200 people who were not affected and residing in the adversely affected areas for preventing the dengue. Follow-up after 10 days revealed the appearance of fever, headache and the characteristic body aches in five persons only. That’s roughly 0.0001%!5
This is the shortest method of providing prophylactic cover to most of the population and is very economical. Incidentally, the proposed genus epidemicus for the COVID-19 epidemic seems to be merc. sol (mercurius solubilis).
The second approach to a pandemic is to develop a nosode (if not already available) from the causative microorganism of the epidemic. It could be distributed to the whole population of a country for less than $1million, instead of $billions!
So now you know why Big Pharma, with its army of paid shills, fights so hard against homeopathy and makes so many damaging claims to discredit it!
