Dear Dr. Keith,
I recently purchased and downloaded your book “Diet Wise”. I read and followed your instructions carefully. And I wish to say to you how supremely grateful I am to you for writing this book.
I have been suffering for 5-6 years from debilitating exhaustion that comes and goes. I have been overweight about 10kgs for the past 5 years and have been unable to shift the weight due largely in part because of my inability to exercise. There have been times where I have been unable to get out of bed for days on end with debilitating exhaustion for weeks on end!
I have been unable to hold down any regular work due to this condition that doctors and naturopaths have been unable to explain. I myself have begun studying nutrition formerly and have spent the past 3-4 years researching everything I can about health. I’ve been on juice fasts, and macrobiotic diets, I’ve been vegetarian, vegan and have tried every diet in between. I’ve taken every miracle potion and supplement the alternative world has to offer,
Nothing has worked long term. I have only really begun with searching out what my body can tolerate and what it can’t and I’m sure I have more to learn.
I wanted to share with you two important food intolerance’s I have now learned by using the methods you’ve set out in your book. Firstly, every time I eat Thai green curry I get excruciating pain in my stomach about where my gallbladder is. I have had the same sensation at other times and not known why. I had thought perhaps it was MSG but have discovered that peanuts cause this pain as does pistachios.
I’ve made this curry without the peanuts, and wow, no pain!
But the best thing I’ve learned is that it’s potatoes that are causing me the debilitating tiredness. One of my favourite things to eat is hot chips made with coconut oil; I make it at home a few times a week.
After clean basic eating for a week, I tried oats first and had no reaction. I went back to clean eating for 2 days and then tried potatoes and—bang—the next day I could hardly drag myself out of bed!
I couldn’t believe it, after all this time and all these years of searching its the humble potato causing me such upset. I have also discovered chocolate gives me migraines (it wasn’t a pleasant experience to find that one out—I spent 4 hours vomiting and 2 days with the worst headache I’ve ever had after testing chocolate).
I will continue to test foods and I suspect a mild intolerance to wheat and possibly rye. My next test is rice and I keep going back to basic eating for 2 days after testing anything, even if it’s benign, just to make sure I’m not building anything up.
Once I’ve gone through the major thing, I will begin testing things in multiples to see if there is build up.
So thank you, thank you, thank you, a millions times over. I tell you Doctor Scott-Mumby it was the best $20 I’ve ever spent!!!! I am so grateful and for the first time in a long time I feel hopeful about the future and I can’t wait to get back into exercise as I really love to swim, run, play squash and ride my bicycle but I’ve been unable to do so due to the tiredness plaguing me for so long.
Hopefully I can lose those few kilos too!
Cheers to you and thanks again,
Regina George (permission to publish)

Just to get me accurate, here is a personal note from Dr I. Sanford Schwarz, the world’s leading expert in Pueraria mirifica. He lives and works in Thailand:
Dear Keith,
Here are a few points on PM, for your much appreciated article, to be correct:
The UK journal Nature was the first to publish consolidated information on PM in 1960. The Thai Ambassador to the Court of St. James supplied the root sample to The National Research Laboratories in London. There a team led by Dr. James C. Cain built on research published as early as 1940. Their conclusion was that PM was at least a hundred times as rich in oestrogenic estrogenic activity as red clover . 40 years later, it has been calculated to be around 3,000 times the estrogenic activity of soy isoflavones. Yet, as an adaptogen, it does not exhibit a rise in blood or urine estrogen levels.
The first acknowledged human study on breast enhancement was done in 1999 by Professors Kuramoshi (Japanese)and Yuthana (Thai). They tested [certified] PM species on 50 Japanese women, between 20 and 49 years old, with daily does of 100 mg to 600 mgs / day. Following our current recommended schedule of the 8th day from the stat of the monthly menstrual cycle to the 21st day.
Overall, more than 70% in each group demonstrated breast enlargement or firming. It was only after this study, that Chulalongkorn began reporting anecdotal evidence, used to commercialize breast creams sold on the internet. To date there have been no valid structured tests demonstrating the efficacy of breast creams containing PM.
For that matter, creams said to contain PM may actually contain one of the other 12 Pueraria species, or even a combination of a number of species. One, sold in Malaysia, has evidence of containing synthetic hormonal precursors. Despite the fact that they do work, there have been a number of negative reports from users. Synthetic hormonal precursors will do that.
Butea Superba and 13 species of Pueraria growing in Thailand are all called Kwao Krua. Butea (a completely different species) is Red Kwao Krua and Pueraria are called White Kwao Krua. PM is one of the white species family members. Black Kwao Krua is a totally different species and has little to no valid research. Unlike White Kwao Krua, Black and Red Kwao Krua grow throughout most of South East Asia. PM also grows in a small mountainous area of Burma, extending from Thailand s north. Otherwise, it s only (99%) grown in Thailand.
PM may constitute a new class of treatment, safe, low toxicity, showing natural Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs) properties, agonist in specific tissues and antagonist in other tissues. We are continuing to research the effect of our PM extract on estrogen and cell receptor sites, in both the breast and ovarian tissues. We will update you as soon as the work has been completed.
Smith Naturals, after 7 years of researching PM, has amassed some 14 Kgs of research, testing and trials on PM. Until their work, the Thai government listed only 8 species of Pueraria being indigenous to Thailand. Currently, they maintain distinct Pueraria 13 species in the National Herbarium.
Best regards,
I agree with Regina about your book… it did cost considerably more here in South Africa; I suffered GERD for 4 years off and on, since my doctor gave me cortisone for a month after an asthma attack caused by the smell of paint in my home. The cortisone left me with an irritated floating hernia and when I was tested, it was shown that the oesophagus does not close; No matter what I ate, within the hour the vile burn would start.
I changed my way of eating, no starch and protein- this worked for about a year!
I stopped eating acidic foods, also worked for a year. During that time I was taking powders for keep my body alkaline!
This year the reflux came back so badly that I was considering getting the fundoplication op even tho’ I disagree with what they actually do! I was at my wits end when I got the DIET WISE book. I have read it once only….. and have not even implemented your eating plan yet…. BUT… I have already found many things I can no longer eat without suffering from the burn.
I am still on a learning curve, but now I can mix starch and protein and it doesn’t do any harm! Like Regina, potatoes are out all together, that was a big part of our diet in Scotland! Sweet potatoes go down very well.
I have always enjoyed salads, but tomato or green/yellow/red pepper I can no longer eat. Lentils, barley, split peas are off my menu, due to a very ‘bagged up’ feeling after eating them in soup or stew.
I happily eat green veg mostly, and have no problems with them at all.
Bread too, is fine- and that’s ANY KIND!
I will do the diet in the book when I get more time to re-read it, but doing the little bits I have done, …. my bed is now lowered down to level! You may think that is nothing, but when you cannot even lie down flat because of the ‘burn’…….. I am enjoying my food so much because I do NOT have the oesophagus burn half an hour after eating!
I look forward to continuing to feel good for a very long time, thanks Prof Keith.
